How a claim works

Claims are handled entirely by AVBOB. World Sports Betting has no part in the claims process.

Claim documents may be handed in at any AVBOB branch or submitted through the scheme administrator. If AVBOB Funeral Service conducts the funeral, the cost is discounted and the benefit is applied to the funeral account first, with any balance paid to the beneficiary.
- Completed claim control sheet showing the membership number
- Certified copy of the computerised death certificate
- Copy of the BI-1663 notification of death
- Certified copies of the deceased's and claimant's ID or birth certificate
- Certified bank statement of the claimant, not older than three months
- A letter from the undertaker, if AVBOB Funeral Service is not conducting the funeral
- A SAPS report, if the death was from unnatural causes
Payment is subject to AVBOB accepting the claim. Where the family prefers not to use AVBOB Funeral Service, an amount equal to the cash benefit is paid to the nominated beneficiary.
No benefit is payable if death occurs during the six-month waiting period, unless it results from an accident or a violent act. Death by suicide within six months of joining, reinstatement or an upgrade is also excluded.

The programme starts on 1 November 2026.
All new policies are only initiated in the first week of the following month.
WSB has no involvement in the claims process. Direct all queries to AVBOB using your policy reference number.
Annual renewal is subject to maintaining your WSB Club Privé status.
